Professional profile

Dr András György is a Research Scientist at DeepMind in London, UK. He earned his PhD in Technical Informatics from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 2003. His research interests include machine learning, statistical learning theory, online learning, large language models, adaptive systems, information theory, and optimisation.

From 2002 to 2011, Dr György was with the Institute for Computer Science and Control, where he served as a Senior Researcher and Head of the Machine Learning Research Group from 2006. Between 2012 and 2015, he was a Researcher in the Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta in Canada. Subsequently, from 2015 to 2019, he was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Imperial College London. Since 2018, he has been a Research Scientist at DeepMind in London.

Throughout his career, he has received several accolades, including a Best Paper Award at the 7th IEEE Global Conference on Signal and Information Processing (GLOBALSIP) in 2019, the Gyula Farkas Prize from the János Bolyai Mathematical Society in 2001, and the Academic Golden Ring from the President of the Hungarian Republic in 2003.
