Professional profile

Dr Balázs Csanád Csáji is a Senior Research Fellow at the HUN-REN Institute for Computer Science and Control (HUN-REN SZTAKI), affiliated with the Research Laboratory on Engineering and Management Intelligence. He earned his first degree in Computer Science from Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 2001, followed by a degree in Philosophy in 2006. In 2008, he obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Informatics at ELTE.

After completing his doctorate, Dr Csáji undertook postdoctoral research at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and, from 2009, served as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne (Australia) until his return to Hungary in 2013. His research focuses on the probabilistic and statistical analysis of stochastic models in machine learning and system identification, with applications in engineering and industry.

His contributions have been recognised with several prestigious awards, including the Australian Research Council's Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) in Applied Mathematics and the Béla Gyires Award from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Section of Mathematics.
