Professional profile

Prof. Gao Cong is a Professor at the College of Computing and Data Science, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and a Co-Director of the Singtel Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence Lab for Enterprises@NTU (SCALE@NTU). Before joining NTU, he was an Assistant Professor at Aalborg University, Denmark. Prior to that, he worked as a Researcher at Microsoft Research Asia. From 2004 to 2006, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore in 2004.

His research interests lie in data science, with a particular focus on geospatial, textual, and mobility data management, spatio-temporal data mining, large-scale data analytics, user preference modelling and recommendation, mining social networks and social media data, and urban informatics.

He has published extensively in prestigious journals (e.g., VLDB Journal, TODS, TKDE) and leading conferences (e.g., VLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, KDD, WSDM, SIGIR, WWW). His Google Scholar citations exceed 14,000, with an h-index of 61.
