Professional profile

Prof. István Csabai is a physicist and a Corresponding Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is a Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), where he conducts research in multidisciplinary fields that leverage modern technologies to collect and analyse large-scale data.

He began working on artificial neural networks and their applications in the early 1990s. His research focuses on understanding complex systems, ranging from living cells to the human-made Internet and the large-scale structure of the Universe. His work applies modern statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, and other computational techniques, which play an increasingly significant role in scientific discovery beyond the standard domain knowledge of traditional disciplines.

Professor Csabai has a strong background in interdisciplinary research and has collaborated extensively with international researchers. He has participated as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI in several national and EU-funded projects. His scholarly contributions include over 200 international publications, which have collectively received more than 70,000 citations.
