Prof. Tao Dacheng is a Distinguished University Professor in the College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His research primarily focuses on applying statistics and mathematics to artificial intelligence and data science. His recent research interests include foundation models, generative AI, AI safety, trustworthy AI, deep learning theory, quantum machine learning, and decentralised optimisation.
Professor Tao has authored over 1,200 publications in prestigious journals and leading conference proceedings, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, computer vision, image processing, and machine learning. His work has received widespread recognition, with his publications cited over 112,000 times, reflecting an h-index exceeding 160.
Throughout his career, Professor Tao has received numerous accolades, including the Australian Museum Eureka Prize (2015 and 2020), the IEEE ICDM Research Contributions Award (2018), and the IEEE Computer Society McCluskey Technical Achievement Award (2021). He is also a Fellow of several esteemed organisations, including the Australian Academy of Science, AAAS, ACM, and IEEE.
