Professor Kwek Leong Chuan holds several leadership and academic roles across Singapore’s research and education landscape. He is a Principal Investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore, a Professor of Education at the National Institute of Education, and a Professor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. He also serves as Co‑Director of NTU’s Quantum Science and Engineering Centre, and until December 2020, he was Deputy Secretary General of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics.

Dr. Kwek is a highly prolific researcher, with more than 300 publications to his name, including papers in leading journals such as Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Reviews of Modern Physics, and Physics Reports. He has led or co‑led numerous large‑scale research projects, securing a total of about $43.1 million in research funding between 2021 and 2023.

His research focuses on the foundations of quantum mechanics, with particular interest in multipartite quantum entanglement, quantum cryptography, quantum synchronization, quantum computation, and atomtronics. Through both his research and leadership roles, Professor Kwek has played a key part in advancing quantum science and engineering across academia and beyond.
