Introductory training
(quarterly / based on demand)
The goal is to help researchers acquire general foundational knowledge, enabling them to move forward with their specific research topics. This practical and inspiration-oriented 1-day training is conducted with centrally funded instructors.
There are two types of foundational courses:
1. Generative AI in Research
2. Fundamentals of AI Usage
Specialised training sessions
These are custom-developed courses within the network, addressing the unique challenges of specific scientific fields. The goal is to make AI training already offered by institutes
available to a broader audience across the entire HUN-REN network, ensuring all researchers have access. Sample topics include:
• Big data analysis
• Natural Language Processing (NLP)
• Image processing
• Transformers in social science
Specialist training sessions are organised based on specific needs,
with the involvement and coordination of the AI Ambassadors' network.
GENAI in Research
Based on a survey conducted within the research network, the greatest demand was for practical knowledge on the safe use of GenAI. After covering the fundamental concepts in the GenAI training, the focus shifts to research-specific practical topics. Accordingly, the main topics for the first introductory course, starting in fall 2024, will be:
- How to appropriately use GenAI in research?
- Challenges and limitations (Ethical and legal considerations, Citing and ethically using generated content in scientific publications)
- Topic selection and brainstorming
- Researching, reviewing, and processing scientific literature
- Formulating research questions and hypotheses
- Choosing the right methodology
- Data collection
- Data privacy
- Data processing and analysis
- Evaluating results
- Formulating conclusions and recommendations
- Writing and structuring papers (style, proofreading)
- Publishing
- Dissemination
