How far will AI take us? The AI Summit is approaching

News

Experts from HUN-REN will participate in the second AI Summit, Hungary's most important AI event, held in the iconic buildings of Városliget on September 9 and 10.

AI Summit 2024

Returning during the second week of September, the AI Summit will focus on legal regulations, and social and economic impacts. The two-day AI-focused event will feature Roland Jakab, CEO of the HUN-REN Centre and President of the Artificial Intelligence Coalition, László Kiss, Director General of the HUN-REN Research Centre for Astronomy and Earth Sciences (CSFK), and Oliver Norton Szabó, astronomer at the CSFK.

Held at the House of Music, Hungary, and the Museum of Ethnography, the summit offers a unique opportunity for national and international experts and visitors to explore the world of AI and learn first-hand about the latest trends.

Will AI cause us to lose our jobs, or will it only affect those unable to adapt?  What new opportunities does AI, already integrated into our lives, create for employees, employers, and company managers? Should we embrace AI at all costs, maintain a cautious distance, or keep it away from our businesses altogether? Roland Jakab, the CEO of the HUN-REN HQ, will address these questions at the AI Strategy 2.0 roundtable discussion. According to Roland Jakab, the ability of today's institutions and businesses to face the future depends on the AI strategy they have in place.

If astronomers are fortunate, they may discover new comets or near-Earth planets in just a few days. Their work can now be aided by AI, along with clear skies and good technology. Artificial intelligence algorithms can detect small planets in images taken by astronomers that would be difficult or impossible to see with the naked eye or with existing software. This  topic will be explored at this year's AI Summit by László Kiss, Director General of the CSFK.

Expanding on the space theme, our astronomer Oliver Norton Szabó will join the panelists to discuss the safety of today's space expeditions, and how to protect astronauts in case of unexpected problems.
