Institute for Legal Studies: constitutional theory including, inter alia, comparative constitutional law, constitutional sociology, constitutional aspects of criminal law, minority rights analysis of legal and constitutional doctrine and the historic fundamentals of modern constitutional ideologies; the legal aspects of market economy; the national impacts of international law and EU law.
Institute for Minority Studies: the community features and the social situation of national and ethnic minorities; integration processes in Central Europe, ethno-political models, the legal status of the minorities; national and ethnic minorities in Hungary and Hungarian minority communities abroad; national and local identities; Jewish studies.
Institute for Political Science: political behavior, political institutions and processes (parties, campaigns, electoral behavior, political values, and leadership); governance and public policy (government performance, public management reforms, public policy processes); democracy and political theory (empirical, normative and analytical democracy theories, constitutions and political institutions, the relationship between government and civil society, accountability and the delegation of power).
Institute for Sociology: urban and rural studies, environmental sociology, health policy; network analysis, big data; social integration; social inequalities and public policy; families and gender; studies on memory, culture, and values; qualitative sociological methods.
Computational Social Science – RECENS Research Group: social networks, negative ties, status competition, structural balance, cooperation, school performance, peer pressure, Roma integration methods: network panel data, agent based models, laboratory experiments, historical networks and political power relationships.
Child Opportunities Research Group: processing the results of national and international research on children living in poverty, collecting and offering data for the regional teams and professionals operating and developing an online monitoring system.
