GOVERNING BOARD

The Governing Board is the highest strategic governing body of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. By virtue of its statutory mandate, it has full legal, operational and financial autonomy. Exercising powers transferred to it by the State, it is responsible for governing the research network, which has a special legal status, for strategic decision-making and for delivering the objectives set out in law. Consequently, its role extends beyond HUN-REN’s operations and is also of key significance within Hungary’s scientific community. The seven-member Governing Board comprises senior executives from leading private-sector companies and outstanding, internationally recognised representatives of the scientific community. The CEO of HUN-REN and three delegates representing the Directors General of the research institutions participate in the Board’s work in a consultative capacity. In its work, the Governing Board upholds HUN-REN’s professional and scientific interests and its decisions are guided at all times by independence, impartiality and the highest standards of professionalism.
