We are looking for a creative and strategically minded Scientific Communication Editor to join our Marketing and Communications Editorial team, who can transform complex scientific content into clear, engaging, and high-quality communication. If you are motivated by intellectual challenges, have a strong sense of editorial responsibility, and are passionate about making science accessible and visible both in Hungary and internationally, you will find a meaningful and inspiring professional working environment with us.

At HUN-REN, you can expect the following responsibilities:

  • Editing, developing, and curating scientific and institutional content for Hungarian and international audiences.
  • Translating research results into clear, accurate, and engaging communication materials.
  • Producing, editing, publishing, and quality-assuring scientific and communication content in both Hungarian and English.
  • Supporting the visibility of HUN-REN’s research in strategic areas such as security, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, sustainability, and healthy living.
  • Collaborating closely with researchers, research groups, institutional leaders, and communication colleagues.
  • Managing and further developing HUN-REN’s communication platforms’ content
  • Ensuring consistency, quality, and credibility across English-language publications and platforms.
  • Supporting communication strategies that strengthen HUN-REN’s national and international presence.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Hold a university degree.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in the field of communications or copywriting, jourmalism
  • Demonstrate advanced English language skills in a professional environment.
  • Be able to generate and implement new ideas, demonstrating creativity and strong motivation.
  • Have a proven track record in scientific communication, editing, or content development.
  • Be able to translate complex research into clear, engaging, and accessible stories for both national and international audiences.
  • Possess excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English and Hungarian.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, building strong professional relationships.
  • Demonstrate creativity, proactivity, and a strong ability to contribute to innovative communication strategies.
  • Be passionate about making science visible, impactful, and relevant to society.

Procedure for evaluating applications:

Candidates to be invited for a personal interview will be selected based on the evaluation of the submitted applications and a short online interview. Following the personal interviews, a recommendation will be submitted to the CEO of HUN-REN, who will make the final decision regarding the appointment.
