Director General of HUN-REN BTK Receives Prestigious Award

On May 28, 2025, at the 137th General Assembly of the Hungarian Ethnographic Society, Balázs Balogh, Director General of the HUN-REN Research Centre for the Humanities and Director of the Institute of Ethnology at HUN-REN BTK, was awarded the István Györffy Memorial Medal.

The István Györffy Memorial Medal is awarded by the Hungarian Ethnographic Society to its members in recognition of outstanding achievements or an exceptional body of work, according to the Institute’s report on the award ceremony.

At the ceremony, Balázs Balogh gave a lecture entitled "Double Change of Sovereignty from Below – Hungarian–Romanian Conflicts, Antecedents, and Impacts in Kalotaszeg between 1940 and 1944 Reflected in Memoirs and Sources."
