Under the Title Healthy Living Symposium 2025, a Unique International Forum Will Be Held in Budapest, Organised by HUN-REN and the National University of Singapore

04.09.2025

The HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network and the National University of Singapore (NUS) are jointly organizing the Healthy Living Symposium 2025 in Budapest on September 17–19. At this prominent three-day international event, the world’s leading researchers, experts and decision-makers will present the latest research results, innovations and practical solutions that help extend the number of years people can live actively and in good health.

The significance of the event is indicated by the fact that the National University of Singapore, belonging to the world’s forefront in the fields of public health, preventive medicine and aging research, is co-organizer of the symposium. The common goal of HUN-REN and NUS is for Hungary to become a regional scientific center in the research of healthy life and longevity.

During the three days of the symposium, more than 30 Hungarian and international speakers will exchange ideas on topics such as slowing down the biological processes of aging, the application of artificial intelligence in medicine, the role of biobanks and large-scale studies in the prevention of diseases, and the translation of the results of aging research into practice through lifestyle and digital health solutions.

Balázs Gulyás, President of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network, stated: “The future of health preservation lies not merely in the treatment of diseases, but much more in their prediction and prevention. If we are able to foresee the risks, consciously protect ourselves, and diseases prevention in time, then not only a longer but also a healthier life awaits us. The approach based on prediction, protection and prevention – the ‘three P’ strategy – is already part of healthcare practice in several Asian countries, for example in Singapore, Japan or Taiwan.”

Prediction makes it possible to assess risk factors by examining genetic endowments and analyzing lifestyle characteristics. With this knowledge, targeted steps can be taken in the direction of protection. The third pillar is prevention, the prevention of diseases. By recognizing dangers in time, there is an opportunity to avoid the development of chronic diseases – for example diabetes, cancers or certain neurological disorders.

Besides scientific exchange, the Healthy Living Symposium 2025 also provides opportunities for the establishment of translational research collaborations, and opens the floor for dialogue between science, policy and industry. All this contributes to the creation of scientifically based, widely applicable solutions and innovations for the preservation of health and the prevention of diseases.
