Ten New Artificial Intelligence Research Projects Launched under HUN-REN – NTU Cooperation
The call for proposals for the “HUN-REN – NTU AI Research Cooperation Programme 2025” has successfully concluded. The programme supports researchers working in HUN-REN institutes and research groups in collaborating with experts from Singapore, with the aim of exploring joint research opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence.
Announced in July, the call is aligned with the strategic objectives of the cooperation agreement signed last year between the HUN-REN Headquarters and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. It aims to encourage collaboration between researchers, launch joint projects, and mutually enhance the research capacity and scientific performance of both institutions.
From the programme’s total budget of HUF 40 million, applicants were eligible to apply for up to HUF 4 million per project. The evaluation followed a two-stage process: first, experts from NTU assessed the submissions, after which a three-member committee at the HUN-REN HQ ranked them based on their strategic alignment with the objectives of the HUN-REN–NTU partnership, research excellence, and feasibility.
In total, ten proposals were submitted – all of which were deemed worthy of support by the HUN-REN committee and approved by the President of HUN-REN.
The applications came from three HUN-REN research institutes and the Office for Supported Research Groups (TKI): six from HUN-REN SZTAKI (Institute for Computer Science and Control), two from HUN-REN TKI, one from HUN-REN TTK (Research Centre for Natural Sciences), and one from HUN-REN BLKI (Balaton Limnological Research Institute).
