The success of the AI Symposium is our shared achievement – thank you all for your active participation!

17.05.2025

Dear Colleagues, Participants, Speakers, and Supporters,

As the HUN-REN AI Symposium 2025 comes to a close, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone whose presence and contributions – through their enthusiasm, knowledge, and openness – elevated the quality of our event.

I firmly believe that the future of artificial intelligence does not depend solely on technology; its direction, values, and boundaries are always defined by human thought, responsibility, and creativity. The AI Symposium has reinforced our belief that a committed and responsible community is emerging – one that is capable of shaping the future AI ecosystem, together with you.

I would like to express my special thanks to the Directors General of HUN-REN, our researchers, staff members, and all colleagues at the HUN-REN Headquarters for their dedicated work, whether behind the scenes or on-site. Their efforts played a key role in showcasing our scientific performance and reputation to the world.

I am also grateful to the more than 50 outstanding speakers and over one thousand participants, whose presence and active engagement proved that Hungary is capable of organizing a significant, internationally recognized AI event, and that our scientific community truly has a place and a role on the global AI map. It was a pleasure to witness how the presentations and panel discussions of prominent figures from the domestic and international scientific, industrial, governmental, and creative sectors turned the Symposium into a genuine platform for knowledge sharing and dialogue.

I was particularly delighted to see many young researchers participate – as speakers, attendees, or even as hackathon winners. The future of AI – especially its ethical and value-based development – lies in their hands, or rather, in their minds.

Our three-day event also strengthened the ties between academia and industry, with the involvement of leading companies such as Bosch, Ericsson, Continental, and Nokia. This collaboration is essential for translating technological advances into social and economic benefits.

This year, the Symposium focused on four key pillars:

  • Robotics, where we explored new dimensions of human-machine collaboration;
  • Healthcare, where AI is bringing transformative change by revolutionizing diagnostics and personalized therapies, ultimately improving quality of life and saving lives;
  • AI Research, which forms the foundation of technological progress, with special attention to ethical and methodological challenges;
  • Network Science, which opens new horizons in analyzing complex systems, data structures, and social connections – particularly in its healthcare applications, where we heard some excellent presentations.

One tangible and forward-looking outcome of this year’s event is the strategic partnership soon to be officially established between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. The first phase of this collaboration is already underway, including the preparation of joint PhD programs, the launch of exchange programs, and participation in international research consortia. These efforts may also be realized through HUNRENTECH, ultimately contributing to Hungary’s competitiveness and societal well-being.

NTU – a global leader in fields such as AI, robotics, and applied sciences – can serve as a strategic partner and a milestone in strengthening our international scientific presence. Such collaborations not only expand our scientific capacity but also help Hungary emerge more prominently on the global AI landscape as a reliable, well-prepared, and value-driven player. Alongside technological development, our goal is to consciously and sustainably build scientific visibility and competitiveness. Through international partnerships like this, we gain not only knowledge but also inspiration, and we create opportunities for Hungarian researchers, young talents, and innovative enterprises to thrive both at home and on the global stage.

The Symposium has shown that the community forming around artificial intelligence is capable of thinking responsibly, collaborating effectively, and shaping the future together.

Thank you for being part of this shared endeavor.

I trust that the connections, collaborations, and initiatives established during the event will continue to bear fruit in the future.

I am pleased to announce that we will meet again in 2026 – the AI Symposium will return next year.

With kind regards,
Roland Jakab
