Another HUN-REN Researcher Wins ERC Grant
The European Research Council (ERC) has published the list of this year’s Starting Grant awardees. With the success of András Gilyén, the HUN-REN Rényi Institute has secured its thirteenth ERC grant.
The ERC announced the 2025 Starting Grant winners, selecting 478 early-career researchers across Europe to receive funding. Among them is András Gilyén, Senior Research Fellow at the HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics.

He is the thirteenth researcher from the Rényi Institute to win an ERC grant. His project, titled “Genuine Quantum Algorithms Inspired by Thermodynamics and Natural Phenomena”, has been awarded nearly EUR 1.5 million (1,470,694).
The ERC supports early-career researchers in launching their own projects, building research teams, and realizing their most promising ideas.
