HUN-REN HQ's Position on the Reform of Hungarian Research Network and the Adjustment of Researchers' Salaries

The purpose of the strategic reform of HUN-REN is to make Hungarian research more efficient and effective by modernising  operational mechanisms through a meaningful dialogue with research institutions. To achieve this complex mission, it is essential to provide an attractive research vision and high-end infrastructure for researchers. A call for bids is being prepared for the acquisition and development of key instruments and databases for high quality international research.

Since their appointment, the leaders of HUN-REN have strived to ensure that employees of the Hungarian Research Network receive a fair reward for their work. The need to raise researchers' salaries was also included in the agendas of HUN-REN's quarterly workshops. The new institutional strategy is also being developed with the broadest possible consensus and community support, i.e. with the participation of research institutions: thematic working groups have been set up with delegates from research institutions. One of these working groups is engaged in finding ways to raise researchers' salaries. First results will be presented at the 4th HUN-REN workshop, scheduled for June.

HUN-REN leaders are in constant consultation with the Ministry of Culture and Innovation on challenges faced by the research community.
