HUN-REN Research Support Staff Once Again Attend the Annual EARMA Conference
Building on the positive experiences of previous years, the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network once again supported the participation of its research support staff at the annual EARMA Conference, held in Utrecht from 5–7 May.
Following its attendance in 2024 and 2025, HUN-REN was again represented at this year’s conference by a delegation of research support professionals. Held under the theme “Empowering Research Managers and Administrators as Leaders for Impact”, the event brought together 1,800 research support professionals from more than 50 countries.
Across presentations and interactive sessions delivered by 270 speakers, participants were able to expand their expertise in a broad range of areas, including the application of artificial intelligence in research support, proposal development and project delivery, science communication, sustainability, open science, and ethics and research integrity. The conference also provided an opportunity to explore a number of institutional best practices in research management.
EARMA is committed to strengthening the recognition of research management and administration as a distinct profession in its own right. A major milestone at this year’s event was the announcement of the official launch of the EARMA Academy, which will support the professional development of research managers and administrators through training and certification opportunities, as well as workshops and mentoring schemes. The conference also marked the announcement of EARMA 2027, which will be held in Vienna from 24–26 May, 2027.
With the support of HUN-REN and the assistance of its Directorate of International Affairs, a total of five colleagues from across the research network took part in this year’s event.
