National Forum on Research Assessment – organized by the CoARA National Chapter Hungary

15.05.2026

On June 3, the CoARA National Chapter Hungary will organize the National CoARA (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment) Forum for the second time, this time at the headquarters of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network. The  Forum examines the reform of research assessment from the perspectives of individual research institutions and researchers, with particular attention to how CoARA membership contributes to the excellence of scientific research and competitiveness of research performing organisations, and how it influences the development of academic careers.

The aim of the forum is to provide a platform for stakeholders in Hungary’s research and higher education ecosystem to discuss the practical implementation of CoARA principles, and to jointly reflect on current issues related to responsible research assessment, research careers, and institutional competitiveness. The event will also offer participants an opportunity to share their experiences, gain new perspectives, and build valuable professional connections.

The morning panel discussion will explore how CoARA can contribute to the research excellence and international competitiveness of research organizations in Hungary, and what benefits participation in the reform process may bring to institutions. The afternoon session will focus on the development of academic careers, with special attention to researcher evaluation systems in research institutes and higher education, the role of women in science, the situation of early-career researchers, and new assessment practices.

The event will also include interactive elements: participants will be able to join the professional dialogue via Mentimeter, and the day will conclude with informal networking and a farewell conversation.

The language of the conference is Hungarian.
