This autumn will see the inaugural Science Expo, with several HUN-REN institutes participating. The event will cover a range of topics through presentations, round-table discussions, and interactive stands. There will be demonstrations in fields such as medicine, natural sciences, ecology, and computer science, among others. From 21 to 23 November, science will take centre stage at the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest.
We have already presented the ten HUN-REN institutes participating in the Science Expo. Now, we’ve also compiled a list of the fascinating topics visitors can explore at each stand.
The HUN-REN Institute for Computer Science and Control (HUN-REN SZTAKI), the HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics, and the Bay Zoltán Research Centre will be showcasing the latest quantum computing and artificial intelligence technologies, which are revolutionising healthcare analytics, ageing research, and agricultural informatics.
The interactive demonstrations will allow visitors to explore practical examples of machine vision, 3D printing, and quantum technology applications, as well as gain insight into the scientific innovations of the future.
Researchers' Night 2024, HUN-REN SZTAKI
Of course, there will be plenty of other attractions at the Science Expo. In addition to the latest innovations, HUN-REN SZTAKI's robot dog and a hydrogen-powered drone will be on display, and the striking link between ageing and AI will be uncovered. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see a portrait-painting robot in action over the three days. The HUN-REN Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics will demonstrate how our daily commuting habits can contribute to the spread of epidemics, and how quantum computers can be used not only to hack websites but also to discover new drugs.
Detailed programmes will soon be available on the institutes' websites.
- Renewing HUN-REN
-
The modernising HUN-REN aims to become one of the most effective research organisations in Europe. The new leadership of HUN-REN seeks to establish a well-funded, open research institution system focused on social and economic issues, which can make a significant contribution to Hungary's social and economic success.
Researchers within the HUN-REN network can expect a long-term, consistent, value-driven, and performance-based funding system, mutually reinforcing structure and operation, nationally and internationally competitive salaries, as well as a predictable research career in an organisation with a strong entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset, administrative and procurement services to support researchers, and a significant emphasis on relationships beyond academia.
